Beautiful Places of Worship

The Badshahi Mosque, the fifth largest mosque in the world, was commissioned by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1671.

Of all the mosques I've been to in my life (and I've been to a lot) I think the Wazir Khan Masjid is quite possibly the most beautiful (and magical) in the world. I love the colours and the patterns!

The last picture is of the Samadhi of Emperor Ranjit Singh. Construction was started by his son, Kharak Singh on the spot where he was cremated, and was completed by his youngest son, Duleep Singh in 1848.

I love the patterns. I wonder how you get a job as a Mosque painter. Or are they like icons painted in prayer?

What beautiful places! I love the faience tile work and beautiful tapestries in the Wazir Khan Masjid. It just looks magical and majestic.

I love the facade of the Badshahi Mosque too. I think I would have liked to have sat and contemplated its beauty for a long time!
